Plain Review and Spoiler free Observations

If you’re going to watch another Super Hero or Action Movie, let me tell you, you’re in for a treat the whole movie is very deep and dense with an extraordinary character development, I bet you’ll be praising both Superman Parents specially Kevin Costner who did a very memorable character. visually is just another Nolan Movie, the Snyder touch is not that present at all, that means lots of cold colors but really good photography.

The elements that made Superman te Super Hero we know are still there but in a clever and modernized way that feel like a current Superhero, an element much needed by Superman whom by now was more than a cliché and had lost that seriousness Nolan and Snyder manage to bring back.

“Short version: Looks amazing, action is awesome, Cavill & cast are excellent. Unlike any Superman film we’ve seen so far…

Long version: More of an origin story of Kal-El than Clark Kent – if that makes sense – from the opening scenes on Krypton to the arrival of General Zod and the threatened genocide of humanity, Man of Steel is about what it means to be human – how Kal-El finally accepts he is Clark Kent, and how human kind accept Superman as one of our own. It’s a film about being an outsider – being different, and accepting yourself whether others do or not. It’s a film about fathers and sons, and – with more than a few sly biblical references – it’s a film about faith. Not necessarily religious faith, but faith in others. Faith in yourself. Negatives would be the lack of character development in anyone other than Kal/Clark – Martha Kent and Lois Lane both suffer from underwriting, and Lois Lane especially is denied the chance to develop beyond two strong scenes, becoming a damsel in distress/love interest by film’s end. Not quite at the same level as Batman Begins, but gives a stronger platform for sequel development than Superman Returns did.

Zack Snyder did a great job as director but you can feel Christopher Nolan all over, the level of details in the movies is amazing the special effects, the photography the producer did a great job and of course Christopher Nolan keep surprising me with each movie ( I don’t know if I’m crazy but I can feel some Inception in this movie J)

Another thing important about this movie is the Hans Zimmer soundtrack it can be more epic, from the beginning to the end thought out each combat scene you feel very pump…

I’ll start by praising Kevin Costner’s and Russell Crowe’s performance, for me they totally stole the show, tell me the strongest scene, in a movie full of complex character, development is not the one were Jonathan Kent makes a gesture with his hand to Clark to not intervene in the Tornado, I don’t know which Dad was more Bad Ass.

Like with Batman, I love how they brought the classic super hero to our time and standards were now makes more sense why earth, how Zod got out and the Colonies established by Kriptonians all around the Universe and Cavills performance adds to that fact, he was just an excellent choice physically and character wise, in some scenes he even resembles Tom Welling and Chritopher Reeve (when he’s getting ready to fly through the World Engine).

Have we ever seen Superman kill someone on Movies or TV before, I think not that was something I really like how they were not shy to humanize even deeper Kal-El with that final scene that concluded the Superman / General Zod fight.

There’s some things that worries me, it was extremely easy to locate Clark and the Kent’s farm, and while it makes much more sense how he landed on the Daily Planet Job there’s a few things that leave some loose ends, it’s ok that some of the people on the Daily Planet know who Clark is or at least have a suspicion and help him out, they did it with Batman in the new movies and worked just fine and sure even the military does fit into that scheme, it’s only normal to think that’s how Superman gets the Government’s trust in the long run, but common at least the iHop Manager and the Police that brought Lois to the Kent’s Farm must know what was going on.

Other than that I feel is about the best we have seen tis year, sure, Ironman 3 was awesome but this one has a more serious tone to it that appeals more to my kind of movie.

The Verdict

9Amazing

The Good:

If you’re going to watch another Super Hero or Action Movie, let me tell you, you’re in for a treat the whole movie is very deep and dense with an extraordinary cgaracter development, I bet you’ll be praising both Superman Parents specially Kevin Costner who did a very memorable character. Visualy is just another Nolan Movie, the Snyder touch is not that present at all, that means lots of cold colors but really good photography.

The elements that made Superman te Super Hero we know are still there but in a clever and modernized way that feel like a current Superhero, an element much needed by Superman whom by now was more than a cliché and had lost that seriousness Nolan and Snyder manage to bring back.

The Bad:

How the managed Clark’s identity was just prefect unitl the last minute, the Kryptonian Mother doesn’t do as good as the other 3 parents and the movie was free of cliches until almost the end aswell, the line of “…to find out where I hang out my cape”
